Protection Challenges

Protecting installed terrazzo presents challenges for contractors, notably marks on the surface resulting from forklifts, scissor lifts, general construction traffic, spills, and other impacts.

Terrazzo is also often used at healthcare facilities, therefore inhibiting mold and bacteria is essential.

Commercial System

Skudo Commercial System provides comprehensive temporary terrazzo protection from stains, scratches, and construction traffic damage for up to 12 months.

The patented two-part system combines a non-toxic Base Coat and proprietary matting applied directly to the surface and peeled up on completion of the job, leaving a clean, residue-free surface. 

The Skudo Commercial System is durable, fire/flame retardant, UV resistant, and antibacterial/antimicrobial and delivers consistent curing conditions, minimizing shade variation and curing lines.

SkudoBoard (Fabric Back)

SkudoBoard Fabric Back delivers an extremely high level of temporary surface protection for terrazzo on any construction site.

The impact resistance and fire/flame retardant qualities combined with lightweight and easy installation provide a superior solution for long-term terrazzo protection.

SkudoBoard Fabric Back is the go-to system when protection for scratch or impact damage sensitive materials is required.

SkudoBoard Fabric Back is available in 4’x8’ sheets and 45”x45” Interlock.

Tack-Mat

Skudo's self-adhesive Tack-Mats are perfect for internal commercial and residential terrazzo installations. They protect terrazzo for up to 12 months without leaving residue.

Skudo Tack-Mats are available in three levels of protection: Light Traffic (LT), High Impact (HI), and Heavy Traffic (HT). The final system selection is based on the expected site traffic and required duration for protection.

General Purpose Mat

Skudo General Purpose (GP) Mat is a durable and highly versatile loose-lay protection system that can be used on various surface types, including terrazzo.

Skudo GP Mat is breathable and offers sturdy protection against construction site foot traffic, carts, staged building materials, ladders, storage areas, spills, and splatter.

The standard version of Skudo GP Mat is available in two widths depending on your project needs. It is designed to protect surfaces from damage for up to six months. Skudo GP Plus Mat includes added durability and can be used for up to 12 months.
