The 450,000 sq. ft. Museum of Fine Arts Houston is currently undergoing a major expansion and renovation. This project includes the complete rebuilding of the Glassell School of Art, which will have a capacity of 7,000 students annually. The project also includes a new parking structure, 160,000 sq. ft. exhibition hall and renovations to the existing Cullen Sculpture Garden. It is expected to be completed in 2020.

The Zachry Engineering Center at Texas A&M University was expanded to become the Engineering Education Complex (EEC). The $168 million facility is the largest academic building on the College Station, TX, campus. The new complex was completely renovated into a modern learning facility, with lecture halls as well as communal areas for students to meet and work on projects.
Texas A&M’s College of Engineering is ranked as one of the top engineering programs in the country according to “U.S. News & World Report.”

Houston Community College’s (HCC) newest campus, West Houston Institute, opened for the Spring 2017 term. The $46 million facility includes new classrooms, labs, conference and collaborations centers, and also a unique “Makerspace” featuring a variety of computer-controlled fabrication equipment to attract scientists, engineers, artisans and entrepreneurs.
During construction, severe storms moved through the region, leaving floodwater, mud, and debris throughout the site. Skudo’s Heavy Traffic (HT) Commercial System kept the surface clean and dry so that it was not damaged by the inclement weather.

In November 2014, well-known furniture and home décor retailer Restoration Hardware opened their largest store to date in the upscale Buckhead district of Atlanta, GA. The six-story, 70,000 s.f. RH Gallery was built to resemble a contemporary southern estate. The building features a 40-foot-tall entry rotunda with a double staircase, a three-story atrium, a 50-foot long reflecting pool, two acres of gardens and terraces, and a rooftop park and conservatory.

The $56 million construction project took a total of 17 months to complete. The first school of its kind, the new facility has open-concept, non-traditional classrooms designed for up to 1,500 students to learn through critical thinking, empathy, creativity, and rationality.

The Bio Engineering building at MSU is a 4-story, 100,000 sq. ft. state of the art research facility, including wet bench research laboratories, offices, and collaborative space such as shared equipment areas. This area is used by researchers from different disciplines, ranging from chemical veneering, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering to pharmacology, physiology and radiology.
The terrazzo contractor, Michielutti Bros, was announced as a winner of the 2017 NTMA Honors Awards for their outstanding work on this project.

As part of Watts Webcor Obayashi joint venture, Webcor Builders completed a $158 Million Guam Naval Hospital Replacement Project for The NAVFAC Pacific in 2014. The project met the LEED Silver certification standard. The new 300,000 s.f. hospital has 42 beds, 4 operating rooms, 2 C-section rooms, and MRI and CT scanning suites. It’s opening coincided with the relocation of 8,000 Marines and their family members from Okinawa, Japan.
Skudo’s Commercial System, MT (Medium Traffic) grade, was laid on a third of the hospital’s Terrazzo floor, protecting it not only from damage, dirt
and debris, but also mold and bacteria.

The Razor House
La Jolla, CA
The Razor House in La Jolla, California, is a stunning, 11,000 s.f. estate built in 2007. Its floor to ceiling windows, contrasted with concrete, reveal a view that stretches for miles toward a state reserve. San Diego architect Wallace Cunningham designed the home to appear to be built right into the mountain side. The home features four bedrooms, six bathrooms, a circular theater, glass elevator, underground garage and a rooftop fitness room along with several infinity pools.
In 2014, Skudo’s HT (Heavy Traffic) and LT (Light Traffic) Tack-Mats protected marble and tile while repairs and renovations were underway.

Southwest Airlines constructed a brand new office and training facility at its Headquarters at Dallas-Love Field airport. The 780,000 + sq. ft. facility consists of a state of the art flight simulator with 18 bays, office building, and parking garage. The structure was built to withstand up to 210 MPH winds in order to be fully operational in all weather conditions. Named “Wings,” the building opened in 2018.
