Protect Your Skudo Liquid Products This Winter
Skudo’s liquid-applied products (i.e., Concrete Base Coat, Glass Advanced, Skudo CURE) are water-based. If they freeze during shipping or storage, the damage is irreversible, and the product becomes unusable. This can lead to costly delays on active jobsites.
Why Freeze Protection Matters
Shipping during winter often requires freeze protection (heated freight). This service:
-
Is more expensive than standard freight
-
Is only available through select carriers
-
May only run on certain days
-
Is often restricted when temperatures drop below 20°F / -7°C
-
May be required even if your location isn’t freezing, depending on the carrier’s route
In previous severe cold spells, we’ve been unable to ship these products for up to a month due to weather-related restrictions.
Plan Ahead for Winter Weather
Customers in regions with heavy winter conditions, such as the Northeast, Northern Plains, Pacific Northwest, and Canada, are strongly encouraged to stock up to avoid higher freight costs and prevent job delays.
Products this applies to:
-
Concrete Base Coat
-
Glass Advanced
-
Skudo CURE
- Tub Protect
Proper Storage Guidelines
To ensure product performance, follow these storage best practices year-round:
-
NEVER allow pails or drums to freeze.
-
Store out of direct sunlight.
-
Keep in a dry area at 40°F–105°F (4°C–40°C).
