Skudo At Work: St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church

While we’ve been honored to be part of many projects over the years, this one was particularly special: St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine in lower Manhattan, near the World Trade Center site.

The original building was destroyed on September 11, 2001, when the South Tower collapsed during the 9/11 terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center.

Following years of delays, the church officially celebrated its reopening on July 4, 2022. The new building includes a non-denominational remembrance hall inside in honor of the first responders and victims who lost their lives on one of the darkest days in US history.

The structure was also named one of “the nine most anticipated architecture projects opening in 2022” by Galerie Magazine.
